Information taken from:

Gams et al., Journal of General Microbiology (1988), 134, 1667-1689.

Sexual state

Indicates the actual sexual condition of the strain.
MK = monokaryotic
HOK = homokaryotic
HA = haploid
HEK = heterokaryotic
DK = dikaryon
DP = diploid
MT = mating type and code mating type (male, female, +, -, a, A, alpha, A1), mating partners used to assess the reaction to be entered in "General remarks"
+ = cross mating types (parental strains may be entered here)
"HO" (homothallic) may occur in this field when a particular strain of a normally heterothallic species is homothallic. The indication "MK" is superfluous when the mating type is specified.
