The CABI experts ensure that the strain is preserved under optimum conditions to retain both viability and stability. The identity of the strain is also checked by our world specialists after preservation and periodically during storage.
Please note that customers eligible for the bona-fide teaching rate may choose any culture from the open collection.
A single exchange culture will be provided, if requested at the time, to persons sending a culture subsequently accepted for deposit in the Genetic Resources Collection. Depositors may request a free culture of their own deposit at reasonable intervals.
Advice on choice of cultures for specific uses, safe handling of fungal cultures and also on import licences is available. Approximately 1,000 new additions are made to our collection each year (12,700 are avalable outside CABI). If the fungi you require do not appear in our catalogue, or if you need to select strains with particular metabolic or physiological properties, please do not hesitate to contact us. Many entries on our computerised database hold much more information than we are able to publish in our catalogue.
