Shipment of Risk Group 2 Microorganisms

The UN Model Regulations are governing the requirements for correct packaging and shipping of Dangerous Goods. A Packing Instruction is in place that requires a certain type of UN packaging system for infectious substances. Risk Group 2 organisms must be forwarded by a recognised courier.
The costs involved for transport and container are as follows:

• Euro 23.00 for shipment within Germany
• Euro 90.00 for shipment to (most) European countries
• Euro 300.00 for shipment to other countries (excluding the USA)
• Euro 430.00 for shipment to the USA.

Large Packages

Several DSMZ strains have to be supplied as actively growing cultures in larger vessels. According to postal regulations, these vessels cannot be shipped by normal mail. They must, therefore, be sent by private courier (for fees see above under 'Shipment of Risk Group 2 Microorganisms').
