Description fish Poeciliid (Xiphophorus xiphidium) derived from the sweetwater poeciliid fish (xiphophorus xiphidium); origin: Rio Purificacion; strain: Y F1 , embryonal
Depositor Prof. M. Schartl, University of Wuerzburg, Wuerzburg, Germany
Morphology epitheloid cells growing as monolayer
Culture_conditions 80-85% mixture of Ham's F12 + Dulbecco's MEM (at 1:1) + 15-20% FBS split culture 1:3 about 2-3 times per week before cells reach confluency; cells grow loosely adherent and can be detached from the plastic surface by shaking or pipetting; old cultures tend to form foci and lose adherence, but the cells remain attached to each other and are difficult to disperse at 26-28C with 5% CO2 maximal density of 6-10 x 10 6 cells/80 cm 2
Viruses ELISA: reverse transcriptase negative
